The next Generation of Sikorsky’s successful iFly Sikorsky™ performance calculator includes enhancements developed by customer pilots that vastly improve the speed in which performance calculations can be performed accurately. The app now can pull METAR data directly from the internet, streamlining preflight data entry.
The iFly Sikorsky™ iPad Calculator replicates the common performance calculations - described in the Sikorsky S-92A & S-76D Rotorcraft Flight Manuals - including takeoff, cruise, hover and landing performance predictions. This helps the pilot evaluate if safe flight in any of those regimes is possible, as well as what the resulting characteristics of flight in that regime would be, such as best cruise speed and predicted fuel consumption.
In addition to performance calculations, the app also has a configuration and weight and balance utility that allows the pilot to accurately calculate the overall aircraft weight and center of gravity location, based on the placement of common interior items such as seats, cargo pallets, and medical litters. The results of these calculations are directly applicable to the subsequent performance predictions. The iFly Sikorsky™ iPad Calculator runs on mobile devices, including iPad and iPad Mini platforms.
The app periodically connects to the Sikorsky aftermarket support site, www.sikorsky360.com, to download required data files and ensure the data is the most current available. While a data connection is required for these checks, the app is fully functional without any external connections, enabling its use in remote locations and offshore.
