What is a SELT?

SELT stands for "Secure English Language Test," which is an exam designed to assess an individual's proficiency in the English language. SELT exams are often required for visa applications to the UK, as well as for certain immigration and job requirements.
To be able to take your SELT test, you'll need to book one through a provider who has been approved by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) - such as Trinity College London.

The Secure English Language Test (SELT) that you will need to take will depend on the visa you are applying for.

A1 English Testis used for UKVI applications for further leave to remain (family partner and family parent visa), Sportsperson and Representative of an Overseas Business visa.

A2 English Test is used for UKVI applications for UK visa extension (family partner and family parent).

B1 English Test is used for UKVI applications for, Indefinite Leave to remain, Settlement / Permanent Residency and British Citizenship (Naturalisation).
