Developed and tested by Australian teachers, Koala phonics is a simple learning game for any child who is beginning their learning of English letters and letter sounds. It introduces children to English phonics focussing on letter recognition, correct articulation (how to say the sound correctly) and using that knowledge to identify pictures with the chosen initial sound.

Koala Phonics is suitable for all children who are beginning their English Literacy learning and for any child who requires intervention for articulation of speech sounds.

How to Play:
Children work through levels which are in a progressive order from the most commonly used/easiest letters, to the less common/more difficult sounds.

The sound is first modeled with a video clip showing the user how to say the sound.

This is an important step in the game as it is important for your child to see how the mouth should look when they form a particular sound. Encourage your child to say the sound with the model on the video.

Children then play a short game where they identify all the things that start with that sound. When the level is finished children are rewarded with a simple memory match game.
