Fire Alarm Design Studio
iOS Universel / Education
Fire Alarm System Design Workflow Studio is a complete engineering reference and design tool for fire alarm system professionals. The app guides engineers and designers through all 17 phases of a fire alarm project — from project initiation through AHJ acceptance testing — using the Skyline Tower Complex, a fully developed 45-story mixed-use high-rise sample project with 44 professional engineering drawings.
This update introduces four NFPA 72-compliant engineering calculators and a searchable code reference, available immediately from the Dashboard and the dedicated Calculators and NFPA 72 tabs.
ENGINEERING CALCULATORS (NEW)
Battery Load Calculator — calculates minimum standby and alarm battery capacity per NFPA 72 Section 10.6.7. Input standby current, alarm current, duration, and derate factor. Outputs required Ah and recommended battery size.
Detector Spacing Calculator — determines maximum detector spacing and minimum device count for a room per NFPA 72 Chapter 17. Applies ceiling-height correction factors for smoke detectors on high ceilings.
NAC Circuit Load Calculator — calculates total notification appliance circuit current draw, number of circuits required, and estimated voltage drop at multiple run lengths for 12 and 14 AWG wire.
Strobe Candela Selector — determines minimum required candela rating per NFPA 72 Table 18.5.5.4.1 for rooms, corridors, and restrooms based on area and number of strobes placed.
NFPA 72 CODE REFERENCE (NEW)
A searchable quick-reference library covering 19 key NFPA 72 sections from Chapter 10 through Chapter 24 — equipment performance, standby power, SLC and NAC circuits, detector spacing, notification appliances, voice evacuation, suppression interfaces, smoke control integration, and inspection requirements. Filter by topic or search by keyword.
17-PHASE ENGINEERING WORKFLOW
Step-by-step guidance through every phase of fire alarm system design: project initiation, AHJ coordination, system architecture, detection design, notification design, voice evacuation, suppression interface, smoke control, emergency power, FACP programming, inspection, commissioning, and project closeout.
44 ENGINEERING DRAWINGS
A full gallery of fire alarm drawings — system architecture, riser diagrams, FACP network topology, floor detection plans, cause and effect matrices, SLC loop diagrams, NAC circuit diagrams, and more — viewable with pinch-to-zoom and full-screen mode.
Standards covered: NFPA 72 · NFPA 101 · NFPA 92 · NFPA 13 · NFPA 110 · IBC 2021 · ADA
Quoi de neuf dans la dernière version ?
Engineering Calculators tab (new)
Four fire-alarm-specific calculators built to NFPA 72 standards:
Battery Load Calculator — standby/alarm current + derating → Ah sizing (§10.6.7)
Detector Spacing Calculator — room dimensions + detector type → adjusted spacing and device count (§17)
NAC Circuit Calculator — device counts + current draw → total mA, circuits needed, voltage drop (§18)
Strobe Candela Calculator — space type + area → required candela per NFPA 72 tables (§18.5)
NFPA 72 Code Reference tab (new)
19 code sections (Chapters 10–24) with searchable, filterable content — filter by tag (Initiation, Notification, Control, Power, Installation, Inspection), expandable section cards with key requirements.
Engineering Tools banner on Dashboard
A 2×2 tool grid appears as the very first card on the Dashboard — immediately visible on launch without any scrolling. Tapping any tool opens the calculator as a sheet. This was specifically required to show Apple that differentiating features are prominent, not buried.
Tab bar reorganized
Replaced the Deliverables and Settings tabs with the new Calculators and NFPA 72 tabs, keeping the 6-tab structure.
