What does 'Manji' mean? Manji, which in Kanji is written as '万字', literally means ten thousand Chinese characters. Although approximately there are about hundred thousand Chinese characters, average Japanese speaker is capable of about 2000 Kanji, average Chinese about 2500 to 3500 Hanzi, and average Koreans about 1800 Hanja before it was disfavored. While the world of Hanzi/Kanji/Hanja is a giant universe to explore, this app is only dedicated to Japanese learners which means all the Chinese characters in this app is exclusively Kanji and there are about 2800 of them.
With Manji, you can:
- Look up information such as stroke order, pronunciation, compound words and example sentences of kanji.
- Add vocabulary to onyomi or kunyomi readings of kanji.
- Create your own list of kanji, vocabulary or sentences.
- Study pre-defined collections or your own lists using flash cards.
- Test yourself using quiz.
- Write down the kanji you don't know to look it up.
- Upload images to the app to extract kanji in them.
