A Journey Most Foul is a roleplaying game where you take on the role of a 14th century townsfolk during the black death. You'll explore the countryside dealing with friend and foe alike all in attempt to find a place to settle down away from the worst effects of the plague. Games are quick, each one is meant to take 10-15 minutes, and survival is not guaranteed. Explore a 36 different locations, deciding what action to take at each. Through luck and skill, find a place to settle and hopefully survive.
"You are a member of a small town in the countryside of France ruled over by a distant lord. Life has been peaceful here, and little in the way of war, despite the ongoing conflict with England, or famine has touched the community in years. Darkness however looms on the horizon; plague has come and with it the deaths of countless good folk. All around you friends, family, and kinsman fall victim to the pestilence; spending their last days in agonizing pain with only the soft prayer of the town priest to comfort them. Soon too, even the prayers stop…
As the town, and civilization as a whole, collapses around you a desperate decision must be made; stay and be at the mercy of the plague or venture forth into the country to find a safer place to settle. You make the tough decision to abandon your life and entrust your fate into your journey and the skills you’ve acquired up to this point in your life.
Death, though, lurks here even as you leave the plague behind. The hungry, the desperate, and the cruel lurk in the shade of the old-growth forests. They sit ready, out of malice or necessity, to do whatever it takes to survive in this broken land. The plague too is insatiable, constantly at your heels and lurking around every corner. Ready at any moment to claim another victim."
