WHAT IS CHESS 960?

Also known as Fischer Random Chess, Chess 960 was invented by World Chess Champion Bobby Fischer in 1996. Instead of always starting with the traditional chess setup, the back-rank pieces are randomly arranged following specific rules:
- Bishops must be on opposite-colored squares
- King must be between the two rooks (for legal castling)
- All other pieces placed randomly
- Results in exactly 960 possible starting positions

This eliminates thousands of hours of opening theory memorization and forces players to rely on pure chess understanding from move one. Every game is fresh, creative, and exciting.
