Out For Delivery is a 42-minute playable documentary filmed with a 360-degree camera. The narrative follows Zhang, a food delivery courier in Beijing, as he completes his daily deliveries on January 23, 2020. This was the day Wuhan went into lockdown, marking the global onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The game offers a vivid snapshot of lives in the rapidly urbanizing Beijing, capturing real-time conversations that reflect the initial acknowledgment of the virus. Players navigate the game by looking around in a 360° view, observing Zhang's day unfold as people begin to realize their lives are about to change. Minimal narration provides only essential context, while the living world tells its own story. A virtual phone journals players’ observations as they experience a mundane day transformed by the course of history.
