BOOK NIGHT is an open code project based on the following principles:

- it raises awareness that reading offers a foundation for a healthy society and healthy individuals;
- it encourages and empowers the principles of knowledge, creativity, innovation, invention, enterpreneurship and sovereignty;
- it is a non- & trans-commercial project;
- it respects every culture in the world as well as encourages the use and artful expression in different languages;
- it connects a variety of both professionals and non-professionals in the area of literature;
- it encourages the participation of co-organizers (e.g. schools, mentors, theatres etc.) in each participating country and/or culture;
- it encourages cooperation among all vital organizations in every country/culture;
- the principles of creativity & freedom of expression are appreciated;
- it helps build world awareness and supports culture and creativity;


These principles are mutually agreed and accepted by every organizer.

The honorary patron of the project in Slovenia and Croatia is the UNESCO.
