HyperDither gives your photos the textured, stippled look of early desktop publishing and multimedia. Whether black-and-white, grayscale, or color, HyperDither delivers rich, velvety pixels you won't find in Photoshop.
HISTORY:
In the early 1980s, Bill Atkinson—creator of HyperCard, QuickDraw, and MacPaint—developed a brilliant technique for displaying tonal images on the original Macintosh's 1-bit screen. That algorithm became legendary among designers and classic Mac users, yet it remained buried in Apple's scanner software for years. In 2003, Bill personally shared the original algorithm with Tinrocket founder John Balestrieri, who implemented it in HyperDither and published the details so other developers could implement it.

• New: Brightness control. Shift midtones while keeping blacks black and whites white. Also works in Threshold mode for tuning the black/white balance.
• Fixed: Saved documents and exported images could end in ".(null)" instead of the correct file extension, and documents could appear as folders in the Finder.
• Fixed: On large images, changing a setting while a previous change was still rendering could stall the preview.
• Fixed: The Amount slider is now disabled in Threshold mode because it only affects dithering algorithms. Use the new Brightness control to adjust thresholding.
