Amblyopia VA is a Professional APP, useful into Optometry and Ophthalmology practice, for measuring Visual Acuity under the International Standards of the Amblyopia Treatment Study (ATS) from the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG).
Is this a visual acuity chart?
This application is not a Visual Acuity chart but it is an automated tool for measuring visual acuity threshold. Therefore, the clinician hasn't got an influence on the results because he/she will not decide the visual acuity on the trial end. The Clinician only has to press the button that corresponds to the answer of the patient in a 4 forced-choice task with the possibility that the patient will refer not seeing the optotype. In this case, an empty button will be pressed.
What possibilities offer?
The application has a fixed price with lifetime access to:
1.- The HOTV measurement protocol especially recommended for children (less than 7 years)
You will have to pay (optionally) a year PRO subscription for accessing all the additional options provided by the App. Among them:
1.- Database service for following the patient progress.
2.- E-ETDRS or HOTV protocols automatically selected depending on patient’s age. When a patient automatically changes of protocol (from 6 to 7 years old) the App automatically corrects the shift due to the protocol used.
3.- Remote control using an iPhone.
4.- Personalized calibration of screen luminance and gamma correction for low contrast visual acuity testing.
5.- Low contrast, 5% and 2.5%, visual acuity testing).
6.- Follow-up plots for controlling the difference of visual acuity between eyes and detecting the reliable changes of visual acuity.
7.- Option to measure visual acuity at multiple distances even though the standard is 3 m.
8.- Export your database in a .CSV file.
9.- Assign your patients to different protocols according to different therapies you apply.

BEFORE DOWNLOADING ON IPHONE YOU SHOULD KNOW:
The functionalities differ depending on the installation on an iPad or iPhone:
1.- You need an iPad for conducting the Visual Acuity measurement.
2.- If you install the AmblyopiaVA in an iPhone this only serves as a remote control, you will still need an iPad to measure the Visual Acuity.
3.- You can download in both iPhone or iPad just if both are using the same Apple Store account for which the App was both.

INFORMATION ABOUT PRO SUBSCRIPTION
The AmblyopiaVA is an app that requires a single lifetime payment for accessing to the HOTV protocol testing. However, if you want to access all the services you have to buy a PRO auto-subscription for 29.99€ (prices can vary between countries) for a period of 1 year. The payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. The account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable.
