Every year, millions of people in the United States become pregnant. Have you ever wondered how your body changes during pregnancy or how much of those old wives' tales, like pregnancy brain, are real? We want to learn more about different pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness and fatigue. While a lot can be learned from your regular OBGYN appointments, we don't know much about what happens to you and your body between those visits, and here at 4YouandMe, we're running a research study to find out. We think that the time in between might hold the key to answering all sorts of questions.
You will download this study companion app where you will be fully informed of study details and sign a consent form agreeing to participate. This app will serve as a hub for study participation. Using this app, you can track your study progress, complete surveys and tasks, and connect other mobile apps or devices such as a Garmin smartwatch and an Oura smart ring.
Those who own an Apple Watch and prefer to use their Apple Watch instead of a Garmin device will be able to connect their Apple Health app.
From the Apple Health app we will be able to pull your Apple Watch data including: your heart rate and pulse, your breathing rate, your sleep stages and quality, your body temperature, activity, inactivity and sedentary time. Your Apple Health app data, if you choose to share it with us, will be coded and included in the study dataset.
We expect that using the app for the study will take about 5 minutes daily. Participation in the study will last 6-18 months, depending on when you enroll.
BUMP is being conducted by a collaborative team led by the non-profit 4YouandMe. This study has been reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board.
