Phone A Vet offers convenient, affordable tele-veterinary consultations with fully qualified, Australian-registered veterinarians — right from your smartphone.
How it works:
1. Register using your email address and mobile phone number.
2. Browse the list of available veterinarians and choose one based on their species expertise. (You can view each veterinarian’s name, location, and area of experience.)
3. Upload your animal’s details.
4. Describe the issue and include any relevant photos or videos.
5. Confirm your consultation and enter your credit card details.
6. Your selected vet will review and accept your request, and you’ll receive a notification. (Ensure notifications are enabled in your phone’s settings.)
7. The consultation may begin with a chat to collect more details before transitioning to a phone or video call, as needed.
8. After the consultation, the veterinarian will provide closing notes through the app's chat function.
9. Finally, rate the session to give feedback to both the vet and Phone A Vet.
What to expect:
- Live video calls: See and speak directly with your chosen veterinarian.
- Switch camera function: Let the vet view your animal and their surroundings in real-time.
- Qualified vets: All veterinarians on the platform are registered in Australia and have expertise in companion animals, farm animals, or wildlife.
Important limitations:
Phone A Vet consultations are advisory only and have limitations, particularly when it comes to diagnosing serious conditions without an in-person exam.
If your animal is:
- Unconscious
- Having trouble breathing
- Experiencing heavy bleeding
- Involved in a serious accident
- Seek emergency, in-person veterinary care immediately.
While you can request emergency triage advice via the app, responses may be delayed due to network issues or vet availability.
Quoi de neuf dans la dernière version ?
Veterinarians on Phone A Vet can now issue prescriptions for veterinary medicines, which are filled by a trusted online veterinary pharmacy.
- Scripts are prepared in-app and sent to both the pharmacy and the animal owner.
- The owner then contacts the pharmacy to have the medication supplied.
Note: Issuing prescriptions is at the professional discretion of the veterinarian. A valid veterinarian–owner–animal relationship must be established to meet legal and ethical standards.
