Mountain Weather UK (MWUK) is the Ultimate Mountain Weather Application dedicated to providing weather information for all UK and Irish mountain regions.
Whether you are Climbing, Walking, Skiing or Mountain Biking, MWUK makes it easy for you to access all this information at your fingertips. MWUK provides 5-day regional and mountain summit forecasts, weather station observations and synoptic forecast maps for all UK mountain areas, giving you the information you need to plan and assess mountain conditions before you head out.
5-day Regional and Mountain Summit Forecasts
MWUK provides 5-day forecasts for 37 mountain regions and over 11,500 hills and mountain summits at or above 1000 ft throughout the UK, Ireland and the Isle of Man. This update integrates the Hill Bagging Database of British and Irish Hills (DoBIH), expanding coverage from 600 to over 11,500 peaks.
Forecasts include daily summaries and detailed 3-hourly periods, with key mountain information: freezing level, high/low level temperatures, wind speed/direction, gusts, visibility, hill cloud, precipitation probability, UV, and mountain hazards. Forecasts are presented as clear daily cards including Headline, Morning and Afternoon weather, Weather Summary (now including mountain classifications), Meteorologist’s View, Hill Walker Advice, Pressure and Fronts, Temperature and Max Wind above 900m, and Visibility at 900m. Forecast screens now include weather backgrounds, load progressively for improved performance, and update to "tomorrow" from 6pm.
Mountain Summit Search
Every summit now includes official Hill Bagging classifications (Munro, Wainwright, Corbett, Hewitt, etc.). Our improved search includes classification filters and the ability to sort by height, classification, A-Z or Z-A. Summit icons are colour coded with a classification legend for easy identification. Smarter mountain search (e.g. "Beinn Eighe") now finds all associated tops and subsidiary summits.
Mountain Region and Summit Maps
Explore regions on an interactive map with polygon overlays. The Mountain Summit Map View now shows all hills as a clustered map view; pins cluster intelligently as you zoom to keep the map clean. Summits feature classification coloured markers and show their parent mountain name. Pro Subscribers now get OS Topo contour lines and features like those seen on OS Maps, helping you better analyse mountain terrain and routes.
Weather Station Observations & Forecast Maps
Analyse hourly observation data from mountain area weather stations with easy-to-read charts. Observation charts include temperature, wind speed, gusts, direction, visibility, humidity, pressure tendency and surface pressure. You can also view synoptic forecast maps for precipitation, cloud cover, temperature and pressure to assess weather systems moving through over the next 48 hours.
Favourites, Recents and Nearest Locations
Save your favourite Regions, Mountains and Weather Stations for one-tap access, and quickly return to places you have recently viewed using Recents. Automatically find the nearest forecast region and mountains based on your current location.
