'AutoSongbook' is an automated scrolling program and database for songs and set lists. The intended user is a musical performer who needs hands-free access to their words, chords, or sheet music in a convenient, portable form.
The primary purpose of this program is displaying songs that scroll automatically according to duration. To display either a song or a set list, double-tap its name.
A secondary purpose is creating set lists of songs and displaying them using automatic scrolling. Set lists may be saved for re-use or as historical reference with names, dates, and notes.
When scrolling a file, 'AutoSongbook' keeps the portion that matches the elapsed time near the center of the screen rather than dictating a current line. 'AutoSongbook' is also flexible about file formats, supporting plain text and HTML, as well as .pdf, .doc, .rtf and others. 'AutoSongbook' makes no adjustments to the file content but simply scrolls the provided content in the time specified.
'AutoSongbook' also provides manual controls which allow you to override scrolling to page up and down or to move through songs in a set list for on-the-fly changes.
As a database, 'AutoSongbook' supports adding, deleting, and rearranging of songs within a set list. You may specify a time delay between songs in a set list (or before that specific song that requires extra setup time) and 'AutoSongbook' will keep track of the total time for the set…a useful feature when creating a set to fit a specified block of time.
For convenience, you may optionally set 'AutoSongbook' to play a starting note for each song, or selected songs, as a cue. You may also match each of your songs to an audio file from your iPod library and use that as a backing or practice track while using fully automatic scrolling.
Scrolling smoothness can be controlled depending on your preference for frequent or less frequent screen movement.
Whether or not you need set lists, a full catalog of song lyrics and printed music can be synchronized through iTunes and ordered alphabetically. Set lists are maintained by date.
