Dynamic Metronome
Fast-track development of stick control and tempo versatility with Rudimentia’s innovative new metronome that enables you to practice rudiments in 5 different modes: continuous tempo, increasing, decreasing, up/down (open-closed-open), and down/up (closed-open-closed). You can adjust tempos or skip around in any mode, set the tempo ramp and number of measures to play each tempo, and optionally play a count-in. In the up/down and down/up modes, you can tap the Reverse button to steadily revert to the initial tempo. The open-closed-open method is a time-proven technique to master your performance of each rudiment. Say goodbye to stagnant practice routines and hello to dynamic growth.
“Open close open makes sense because it allows you to identify your weaknesses. Always choosing a consistent tempo means you can skip over inconvenient tempos easily. Having to at least move through the hard ones for a few moments shows you where you need work. The fastest speed is not always the hardest, especially for rudiments with double or triple strokes in there… unless your techniques have a large overlap in speeds, there are likely to be spots where you are significantly worse than others. You can’t really hide those spots if you move through every tempo in your range.”
— Ryan Alexander Bloom, drum instructor and author of Encyclopedia Rudimentia
