LandRush, by Frauke Huber and Uwe H. Martin, is an ongoing artistic and journalistic exploration of large-scale agro-investments, the boom of renewable fuels, the reallocation of land, and the future of agriculture around the world.
LandRush, at the moment, features three extensive stories that combine short documentary films with texts, video moments, interviews and journalistic photography:
- The Farm documents how international land investments in Ethiopia change the social and environmental fabric of the Gambella region
- The Road follows the extension of the Soy Highway in Western Brazil, that drives the agricultural boom ever deeper into the Amazon basin
- Family Affairs is an intimate collaboration with two family farms, which are thriving due to ethanol production in rural Iowa, USA.
LandRush will be constantly updated with new chapters:
- Dry West - California Drought documents the multiyear drought in California’s Central Valley (publication summer 2017)
- Full Circle looks at organic farming and land use policies in Eastern Germany
- Dry West - American Nile explores the hydrological societies and landscapes of the American West and analyzes water policies in the Colorado River Water Shed.

In ihrem journalistisch-künstlerischen Langzeitprojekt LandRush untersuchen Uwe H. Martin und Frauke Huber die Zukunft der Landwirtschaft im Spannungsfeld zwischen Ernährungssicherung, Energieproduktion und schwindenden Ressourcen.
LandRush kombiniert kurze Dokumentarfilme mit Reportage-Texten, Videomomenten und journalistischer Fotografie zu einem erzählerischen Fluss. Zu Beginn sind drei Projektteile verfügbar:
- The Farm dokumentiert wie internationale Landinvestitionen in Äthiopien das soziale und ökologische Gleichgewicht der Gambella-Region verändern.
- The Road folgt dem Ausbau des Soja-Highways im Westen Brasiliens, der den landwirtschaftlichen Boom immer weiter in das Amazonasbecken ausdehnt.
- Family Affairs ist eine persönliche Kooperation mit zwei Familienfarmen im ländlichen Iowa, die durch den Äthanolboom neue Hoffnung schöpfen ihre Tradition zu bewahren.
LandRush wird durch neue Kapitel nach und nach erweitert:
- Dry West - California Drought untersucht die Herausforderungen der mehrjährigen Dürre im kalifornischen Central Valley.
- Full Circle dokumentiert biologische Landwirtschaft und die Landvergabepraxis im Osten Deutschlands.
- Dry West - American Nile erzählt Geschichten über die hydrologische Gesellschaft entlang des Colorado River und die Herausforderungen durch das sich ändernde Klima.
