Task Breakdown Outliner helps you turn work that feels too big, vague, or tangled into small next steps you can actually do.

Most task apps assume your tasks are already clear. This app starts one step earlier: with the messy project, the half-formed idea, the blocker, the research trail, and the uncomfortable question of where to begin.

Capture the rough version, split it into nested layers, and promote only the smallest executable leaves into tasks.

Use it when you need to:
- Break a large project into smaller steps
- Turn vague work into visible structure
- Keep notes, decisions, links, and tasks together
- Review what matters today without losing the full outline
- Capture thoughts quickly before they disappear
- Search across pages, blocks, tags, and linked context
- Move tasks through todo, doing, and done
- Export your workspace when you need a portable copy

Core features:
- Breakdown-first nested outliner
- Inline task states: todo, doing, and done
- Today view for due steps, active work, and pinned context
- Quick Capture into Today or Inbox
- Daily notes for fast review and capture
- Linked pages with [[double brackets]]
- Backlinks that show where context came from
- Block references for reusable snippets
- Search across notes, tasks, links, and tags
- Board view for visual task progress
- Graph view for page relationships
- Markdown and JSON export
- iCloud sync across supported Apple devices
- Local workspace mirror on device when available
- Keyboard shortcuts on supported devices

Task Breakdown Outliner is built for solo builders, students, writers, product managers, operators, and knowledge workers who get stuck because the work is still too large to act on.

The core workflow is simple:
1. Name the hard thing.
2. Split it into smaller parts.
3. Keep splitting until the next step feels doable.
4. Mark that leaf as a task.
5. Move one clear step forward.

No Task Breakdown Outliner account is required. iCloud sync uses the Apple ID and iCloud availability on your device. Your workspace can also be exported as Markdown or JSON for portability.

Good to know:
- Paid upfront app
- No subscription
- No in-app purchases
- No third-party analytics SDKs
- No advertising SDKs
- No real-time collaboration in this version
- No web app in this version

If a project feels too large to start, do not force it into a flat todo list. Break it down first.
