Pack Rat is a personal packing inventory app for people who want to know what is inside every box without opening them all.

Create boxes by room or location, scan box photos, dictate quick notes, and save item lists while you pack for a move, storage, travel, or shipment. Pack Rat keeps the inventory local-first and organized around your own boxes.

Use camera/photo import, Vision OCR, local heuristics, and on-device Apple Intelligence when available to help turn photos and text into structured item lists. Review suggestions before saving. Saved scan photos stay attached to the box and scanned items so you can see the source image later. Optional Cloud Scan can use your own provider API key to detect visible items with bounding boxes.

Search boxes by label, room, item, category, or notes when you need to find something after packing or after the move. When a moving company, customs office, insurer, or anyone else needs a list, export your box inventory as a PDF summary, CSV spreadsheet, or plain text share sheet.

Your records live in the app database and can sync through your private iCloud account when CloudKit is available.
