Power factor calculations made easy!

As with all our Apps this App provides the underlying maths and theory behind the calculations together with worked examples. This will allow you to not just get an answer, but more more importantly, to understand how the answer was derived.

Power Factor Pie is written in manner to allow you to undertake power factor related calculations with ease. The following three features are available within the App:

Power Factor

Upon entering the load’s True Power kW and Apparent Power kVA the App calculates the load’s Power Factor and the Displacement Angle between the True Power and Apparent Power.

Power Factor Correction

Upon entering the Connected Load kW and Power Factor together with the Desired Power Factor the App calculates the kVAR compensation required to achieve the Desired Power Factor. In addition the load’s Original Apparent Power kVA and Desired Apparent Power kVA is provided. In addition the option is available to transfer the required kVAr compensation figure into the Capacitor Size feature to allow the capacitor size to be calculated.

Capacitor Size

Upon entering the Reactive Power kVAr, the Voltage and Supply Frequency the App calculates the size of capacitor required to achieve the desired kVAr compensation.
