Rock Mapper
iPhone / Productivité
Rock Mapper is packed with powerful features:
- 3D LIDAR SCANNING*: Generate photorealistic 3D models of rock faces & drives directly in the field using an iPad Pro.
- AUGMENTED REALITY*: Share & re-visit photorealistic LiDAR scans in Augmented Reality on any modern iOS device.
- PHOTOGRAPHY*: Take rock face photographs with the iPad's built-in camera. Rock Mapper takes care of all settings.
- GEOREFERENCING*: Register rock face photographs and 3D LiDAR scans using survey points or drive direction laser stations.
- MAPPING*: Directly map onto rock face photographs & 3D LiDAR scans using fully customisable annotation layers.
- GRADE CONTROL*: Record face samples & sampling domains by directly drawing onto the rock face photograph or 3D LiDAR scan.
- ROCK MASS ASSESSMENT*: Access dedicated tools for Q System (after Barton et al 1974) and RMR (after Bieniawski 1989).
- REPORTING*: Auto-generated mapping reports, geotechnical reports & sampling reports saved as PDFs & ready to share.
- CLOUD SYNC*: All data immediately available in ready-to-use formats on the Rock Mapper Cloud.
- COMPATIBILITY: All data supplied in open, industry-standard formats that seamlessly integrate with 3D modelling platforms and database solutions, including Vulcan, Micromine, Leapfrog, Deswik, Surpac, Datamine, acQuire and MAXGEO datashed.

Quoi de neuf dans la dernière version ?
- Welcome to Liquid Glass. Rock Mapper now follows Apple's new design language for iOS / iPadOS 26.
- New Digital Geological Compass. Use your iPad to capture orientation measurements for planes and lineaments (e.g., lithological contacts or intersection lineations).
- Pan and Zoom for face pictures. You can now zoom into face photographs, and pan to the left wall, right wall and roof / backs. Double tap to maximise view.
- Sample Bag ID Scanner. Instead of manually entering IDs printed onto sample bags, scan them using the iPad's camera.
- Pictures and Attributes for POIs. Assign a picture and customisable attributes to POIs. Great for (geotechnical) inspections.
- Edit Settings. All annotation layers, report fields and attributes can now be edited or duplicated. Simply long press to open contextual menu.
Other improvements & changes
- Improved, smart label placement and sizing on photographs and LiDAR scans.
- Auto-detect structure type when placing structural measurements on annotation lines (e.g., on a fault line).
- Copy / paste for sample interval data.
- Streamlined input for structural measurements. Structure type (Plane or Lineament) now directly defined in Settings. All Contacts are automatically classified as type Plane.
- Orientation value check. If entered structural measurements are outside of valid range (e.g., dip = 124), then value is highlighted in red and can't be saved.
- New column SiteID added to [FaceID]_metadata.csv file.
- New green globe icon for rock face thumbnails to indicate fully georeferenced rock faces.
- Device storage warning when device is running low on it.
- Zero delay when adding scale bars and generating 2D sampling grids thanks to a new algorithm. Previously it could take a few seconds, especially for dense grids and complex / jagged face outlines.
- Improved input for laser station and survey point coordinates. Pressing the return button on the virtual keyboard automatically moves cursor to next field.
- POI labels can now be visualised without comments using the new show / hide comments feature.
- Mapping Report and Sampling Report PDF preview and quick-share option. Accessible via long press thumbnail on rock face gallery page.
- 'What's New' window to inform users about most important new features and changes after updating.
- New [FaceID]_history.csv file. Records events CREATE, UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD, EXPORT, IMPORT, SAVE, DUPLICATE, RENAME, GEOREFERENCE as well as DATETIME, RMVERSION, RMID and SITEID for each rock face.
- New [FaceID]_POIs.csv file. Records all POI information including POI picture names, POI picture coordinates and POI attributes.
