What is glycemic index?
The Glycemic Index (GI) is a scale from 0 to 100 that measures how quickly a food raises blood sugar levels after eating. Foods are categorized as:
- Low GI (55 or less): Slow, steady energy release
- Medium GI (56-69): Moderate effect on blood sugar
- High GI (70+): Rapid blood sugar spike
