• Mini species have not been included in this guide as they have low sport or culinary value to the recreational angler, where they have use as bait then they are included in the Pocket Guide UK Sea Fishing Bait and also many more smaller species may be found in our Pocket Guide to UK Seashore.
• ALL fish listed have been reported or documented as being caught from British waters.

Important Bass restrictions for 2016:
For recreational fisheries
• In ICES Areas IVb, IVc, VIIa, VIId, VIIe, VIIf, VIIg, VIIh
from 1 January to 30 June 2016 catch and release only permitted
from 1 July to 31 December 2016 one bass per fisherman per day
• In ICES areas VIIj and VIIk
from 1 January to 31 December 2016 one bass per fisherman per day
Recreational fisheries include fishing from the shore.
