calmER Companion is a calm-down companion for parents and caregivers. It is a quiet, on-device toolkit you can keep in your pocket for the moments when you need a steady hand: preparing for an appointment, sitting in a waiting room, or pausing together in a stressful environment.

Who this is for

calmER Companion is built for parents and caregivers — including those caring for a child on the autism spectrum — and useful for anyone who wants a calm, private corner of their phone for hard moments. If you have ever tried to prepare an overwhelmed child for what's ahead, this is for you.

What's inside

Profile — a short, private space for the details that matter about the child you're caring for.

Visual ER Guide — a step-by-step picture walkthrough you can look at together to set expectations for an emergency room visit.

Care Cards — short phrases the child can tap to be heard, grouped into sensory, communication, de-escalation, and pain-assessment sets.

Priority Info — the one critical thing staff need to know about the child, one tap away on the home screen.

Support Cards — twelve ready-made tap-to-speak messages so the child can say what they need out loud, even when speaking is too much.

Sensory Toolkit — calming activities for the waiting room: a visual timer, a breathing animation, a feelings picker, a First-Then board, a Break Card, a Don't Touch Yet card, and seven social stories about common procedures.

A note on privacy

Everything you put into calmER Companion stays on your device. calmER Companion does not collect, transmit, or share your data. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, no ads, and no analytics. The app works offline.

A note on what calmER Companion is not

calmER Companion is a wellness companion, not a medical device. It does not give medical advice, make a diagnosis, or take the place of a doctor, nurse, or paramedic. Any decision about a child's care belongs with the people treating them. If you are facing an emergency right now, please put this app down and call your local emergency number or go to the nearest emergency department. Help in person comes first.

Support the project

calmER Companion is free. There are no required purchases and no locked features.
