"BearBell" is a bear deterrent bell app designed to keep bears at a safe distance. Developed based on the creator's own experience as a hiker, the app aims to maintain an appropriate distance between bears and humans. It supports background playback, so the sound continues even when your smartphone is in your pocket. Perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, trekking, and camping.
Development Background
The app was born from the developer's personal experience as a hiker. There were many occasions when I forgot to bring my bear bell on mountain trips.
Especially when hiking alone, I often found myself in situations thinking "this area might be dangerous" and regretting not bringing a bear bell. Since I always carry my smartphone for map apps during hikes, I thought, "Why not create an app that can substitute for a bear bell?" This idea became the starting point for development.
App Features
Hiking and outdoor activities should be enjoyable experiences. With this in mind, the app features a friendly, pop-style design with animated bells swinging left and right, making it visually appealing and inviting for daily use.
The app supports background playback, allowing continuous bear deterrent sounds even when your smartphone is in your pocket or bag. It also includes an alarm function that can emit warning sounds in case of a bear encounter.
While primarily designed for hiking and outdoor use, the app can also be utilized in various situations such as commuting, going to school, or working in agricultural areas where bear sightings are a concern.
Please note that this app is only one supplementary safety measure. We strongly recommend combining it with other safety precautions, such as carrying bear spray.
