NoiSee
iOS Universel / Utilitaires
Measuring sound is what we do. NoiSee — Worthy of the name "Sound Level Meter"
NoiSee is an intuitive professional-grade sound level meter for iPhone and iPad. It features all the tools expected from a professional ANSI or IEC compliant Sound Level Meter. All filters, averaging modes and statistics meet or exceed class 2 requirements of the relevant ANSI and IEC standards. NoiSee is specifically designed for Occupational Health and live-sound measurements. It was created by a team with over 20 years of experience in calibration, owning a Sound Level Meter calibration laboratory meeting ISO 17025 requirements. The same calibration equipment was used to develop this app.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Supported devices with a calibrated and frequency-response-compensated internal microphone:
iPhone 12 mini, 12, 12 Pro Max, 13, 15, 16 Plus, 16e, 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air; iPad (9th gen), iPad (10th gen).
The app also includes parameters and UI optimised for live events and live audio monitoring, including running LAeq (5, 10, 15 and 20 min averaging intervals).
The initial calibration is determined by testing in an anechoic chamber meant for calibration of professional Sound Level Meters. We do not recommend changing it on supported devices, as internal microphone sensitivity varies insignificantly between units of the same model.
Requires iOS 17 or later. Dynamic range approximately 40–100 dB (re. 20 µPa); frequency range 40 Hz – 18 kHz.
SOUND LEVEL METER
History (profile) view of all relevant parameters. Statistics view of the current measurement (ISO 1996 percentiles), also visualised as a histogram.
• Time weightings: Fast, Slow, Impulse, Equivalent
• Parameters: LAeq, LCpeak, LAFmin, LASmax, SPL, and more
• Spectrum view: time-history of frequency- and time-weighted level. CPB analysis per IEC 61260 and ANSI S1.11, from 1/1 down to 1/24 octave.
NOISE AT WORK
Occupational-health compliant (ISO 9612, OSHA, NIOSH): Noise DOSE, elapsed time, LEX 8h, Projected DOSE, Time to reach 100% DOSE. Threshold, reference level and exchange rate can be set to custom values.
EXTERNAL MICROPHONES
Tested with MicW i436, i437 and D236, and Dayton Audio iMM-6 and iMM-6C — calibrated measurement microphones complying with Class 2 (IEC 61672). With an acoustic calibrator, NoiSee can calibrate automatically. Connect via USB-C, or via the Apple USB-C / Lightning to 3.5 mm adapter.
