Insider China is a search app for discovering authentic content shared on Chinese social media platforms — Douyin and Xiaohongshu (RED). Travel tips from
locals, restaurant reviews, neighborhood recommendations, cultural insights, and real opinions from users across China, surfaced in a clean reading interface
designed for international readers.

Type any question in English and get curated results pulled directly from public posts on Chinese social media. Planning a trip to Chengdu? Search for
popular hotpot restaurants and see what locals are recommending. Moving to Shanghai? Find the neighborhoods expats and students are talking about.
Researching Chinese food, fashion, or travel trends? See what Chinese social media is saying.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Search in your preferred language — Type your question naturally.

2. The app queries Chinese social media platforms — Your search is sent to our backend service which retrieves public posts from Douyin and Xiaohongshu.

3. Browse real results — See actual public posts from Chinese social media: photo stories from Xiaohongshu with full image galleries, and Douyin videos with
engagement stats.

4. On-device translation — All result text is translated from Chinese using Apple's built-in Translation framework. Translation runs locally on your device.

Insider China is not a VPN, proxy, or tunneling app. It is a standard search client that communicates with a third-party API backend over HTTPS to retrieve
public social media content and displays it for reading. All translation happens on-device.


IMPORTANT — NOT A VPN
This app does NOT implement or use any VPN, proxy, tunneling, or traffic-redirection functionality.
- The NetworkExtension framework is NOT used.
- There is no NEPacketTunnelProvider, NETunnelProvider, or NEVPNManager.
- No VPN-related entitlements are requested.
- All networking consists of standard HTTPS requests made via Apple's URLSession to a single third-party API endpoint: https://api.coze.cn (Coze, operated by
ByteDance).

DATA COLLECTION
The app does not collect any personally identifiable information. The only user-generated data that leaves the device is the search query the user
voluntarily types, which is sent to the Coze API to retrieve public search results. We do not log, store, or share this data. No analytics, tracking, or
advertising SDKs are included. Full details are in the privacy policy linked below.

All translation of retrieved content happens on-device using Apple's built-in Translation framework.
