kampFire is a free digital publishing app for creative writers, poets, song-writers, and visual artists. It is designed to be a virtual space where travelers may stop and gather to share a story, a song, a poem, a work of art, or other gift and find warmth and refreshment in the sharing and appreciation of those gathered together.
Anyone with a creative voice that wants to be heard can easily publish and copyright original material on the kampFire app for free, no other hoops involved. By posting original, creative content to share in the kampFire, you establish and retain copyright to your published material. You retain all rights to publish your material in the future on any type of publishing platform you choose without kampFire claiming any rights or imposing any limits to your creative works whatsoever.
The content you publish may be read, heard, and seen by all others gathered around the kampFire, but no one may download or own your material but you. This is not a commercial space to sell our wares. The kampFire is a space to share our sparks, our creative voices and gifts from all corners of the world, and to ignite sparks in each other.
Around the kampFire all are equal and valued members of a creative tribe. We share creative gifts and can send gifts of appreciation to one another to encourage, to affirm, to applaud in the form of digital “sparks.”
Sending a spark is like sending a reciprocal gift (like applause or a virtual clap on the back, like offering a drink or sharing one’s meal, like a gift of coin or one’s own art) in appreciation of the bard’s moving song sung masterfully over a fire, or the storyteller’s captivating yarn. Sparks allow us to send applause and appreciation to one another, human-to-human, not to generate profits in any way for the kampFire app or any other overlord.
In future constructions of the kampFire we envision being able to trade in the sparks in our accounts for gifts that have immediate value in our lives—water, food, shelter, medical care, transportation, education, training. Stay tuned!
We hope that the kampFire may connect wayfaring artists from divergent paths of life and spark more creativity, more fire, more life all around.
