I have always been fascinated with Australia. The Aborigines have been on the island continent for over 60,000 years. That is over twice the time that the Native Americans have been on the American continent. Australia was used as an island prison by the British. The evolution of the animal life has been so isolated that they took their own branch of evolution where the unique species only exist on the Australian continent. And the animals that live there want to kill you. I love the remoteness of the Australian bush and the Outback. And I am fascinated by the culture of the people.

It is said that the distance between the towns can be measured by the number of beers that can be consumed while traveling between them. This app, and SOS LLC, does not condone driving while impaired, of course. But that is an interesting way to look at distances across the continent. (I have heard the same thing about Wyoming in the USA)

I highly recommend taking a road trip across the continent, and visit the watering holes that the locals use for socializing.
