Easy Health INFO. is a free app that helps persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to learn about health education.
This application has been developed as part of PhD Project at the Lero, the Irish Software Research Centre, University of Limerick, Ireland. The project aims to identify the design requirements of digital health technology for participants who have Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
The design of the mobile app was developed by using a standard graphical user interface (GUI) to encourage users to progress through the different images and labels. The first screen is the home page, which includes the title of the app (Easy Health INFO.), and underneath of that; there are five-carton pictures that labelled. On the bottom of the first screen, a button labeled with 'click here' to take the users to the second screen.
In the second screen, there are two menus, Health Puzzle and Game. Once users click on the health puzzle, this can take users to a couple of questions, and each question has a picture that represents the correct answer. There are three choices. The correct one has a different sound effect, and once been clicked, it can take you to the second question. When you finished these questions, there will be a screen with 'well done' and a home button. Clicking the home, it will take you back to the main menu.
The second menu, which is the game, the button will take you to a few screens. Each screen has four pictures and underneath these pictures are the term that users should click to the correct image. Tab on the word to listen to which photos should users click. Once you choose the correct one, it will take you to the next one till you finish these questions and reaching the screen with the statement of 'well done' and underneath the home page button.
