Spellbook is the first spelling app from Mr Thorne Productions, the team behind the Mr Phonics / Mr Thorne Does Phonics apps which have had huge success on Youtube and the App Store around the world.

Mr Thorne's Spellbook is educational and fun. 101 spelling tests based on the order of teaching letters and sounds, beginning with s, a, t, p, i, n, m and so on, leading onto digraphs and trigraphs such as 'ch' and 'air'. Finally the spellings become more challenging, for example, the /er/ sound in 'earth' and the 'silent u' in 'building'.

The player is encouraged to listen to the word and spell the word correctly, sometimes using capital letters too!

Score 10 out of 10 to unlock the safe. Open the safe to obtain the treasure.

Game structure: The words in each game are in sync with a child's ability, so the 's' level will not have the word 'start' because the 'ar' words are in a later level. The 's' level instead features words that are easy to blend and read: 'sat', 'sip'.

There are some levels which feature 'HFW' - high frequency words (words that don't always sound how they are spelt) like 'was' and 'people'.
