The ‘Cream Calculator’ App is a tool for patients and physicians to visualize the amount of topical treatment for skin diseases. For each skin disorder, adapted patterns are shown to facilitate the scoring. The quantity is calculated depending on the type of product and the base (ointment/cream/gel/…). The calculations and user instructions are displayed based on the available medical literature. However, always seek medical advice and confirmation by your physician before using this App.
Most medical dermatological products of Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, the USA, France, Germany, and Switzerland are included and more products (e.g. medical devices and cosmetic products) will be added in the future.
The ‘Cream Calculator’ App is based on scoring tools that have been validated in scientific studies. The patterns for inflammatory skin disorders [Cutaneous Inflammatory Disease Extent Score (CIDES) and Self-assessment CIDES (‘SA-CIDES’)] and vitiligo [Vitiligo Extent Score (‘VES’) and Self-assessment –VES (‘SA-VES’)] have been shown to be user-friendly, reliable and accurate for both patients and physicians. To calculate the extent of vitiligo in clinical studies, another App [‘Vitiligo Calculator’ (iOS), vitiligo-calculator.com] is available.
