The Piedmont Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation App provides 24/7 access for referring physicians to the Piedmont Transplant Institute team. Piedmont is dedicated to making the referral and communication process better for patients and physicians. The app encompasses information for both the referring physician and the patient who are in need of a kidney or kidney/pancreas transplant, and for physicians who want quick references regarding our selection criteria and protocols.

Piedmont has a dynamic, highly specialized and caring transplant team for patients in need of kidney and pancreas transplantation. Piedmont has performed over 3,400 kidney transplants since 1986 and performed the first kidney-pancreas transplant in Georgia, as well as the first laparoscopic and robotic donor nephrectomies in Georgia. Our program is one of the largest in the Southeast, performing over 200 kidney transplants per year, nearly half of which are from living donors. Our patient and graft survivals lead the Southeast and are among the best in the country.

Our 6 transplant surgeons and 5 transplant nephrologists are highly skilled and collaborative, contributing to an excellent patient experience. Our surgical team has advanced the role of robotic and minimally invasive surgery to help improve recovery for living donors. Piedmont has embraced paired kidney exchange and desensitization as ways to expand opportunities for patients to receive living donor kidneys. Our team also travels to Athens, Marietta, Macon, Savannah, and Albany in order to improve access to transplant in underserved areas of the state and region.

Our app provides contact information via cell phone and email for all of the Piedmont Transplant Institute physicians and surgeons for expedited referrals. With the built in Quick Referral tool, referring physicians can start the referral process directly from their iOS device. Patients can use the app to learn more about the kidney and pancreas transplant team, access information about the transplant journey, view our center protocols, as well as watch a video of transplant procedures.
