Intervallo
Intervallo is a chord identification tool for musicians, composers, students, and theory nerds who want clear answers without guesswork.
Instead of trying to “predict” what chord you meant, Intervallo analyzes three-note chords by their actual interval structure. It recognizes standard triads, inversions, shell voicings, quartal shapes, clusters, and other three-note sonorities.
Some chords have familiar names. Some are ambiguous. Some are better understood as unnamed pitch-class structures. Intervallo tells you the difference.
Key Features
• Three-note chord identification
Identify triads, inversions, shell voicings, quartal structures, clusters, and more.
• Bass-relative analysis
See how a chord functions based on the lowest note you played.
• Inversion awareness
Distinguishes root position, first inversion, second inversion, and other common voicings.
• Handles ambiguity honestly
Augmented chords, symmetrical structures, and unusual pitch collections are treated with care.
• Spelling-aware interval tools
Understand the difference between intervals that sound the same but are written differently, like augmented fourths and diminished fifths.
• Grand staff input
Enter and view notes on a clean grand staff interface designed for theory work and ear training.
• Octave independent
Analyze wide-spread chords just as easily as close-position voicings.
Built for serious theory, but easy to use
Intervallo is useful whether you are checking a basic triad, studying jazz shell voicings, experimenting with post-tonal sonorities, or composing with unusual harmonic shapes.
It does not force every group of notes into a familiar chord name. When a structure does not have a standard label, Intervallo says so.
Private and offline
Intervallo works completely offline. No account, no tracking, no data collection.
