What's unique about it?
- Well you can do precision pitchbending on a standard keyboard layout.
- Meaning the keyboard isn’t weird looking so if you play keyboards its easy
- Also precise pitchbends with a fretboard layout like an actual guitar with the frets getting closer as you play higher. (I know but that’s what string players are used to)
- This is all customizable if you don’t like that
- Also, there is a grid layout where you can program each note-block independently. Cool for drums or chords or whatever
- “Repercussion” is a secret special feature for rhythmic stuff that is cool (very underrated IMHO)
- and yes it of course will do microtonal 24 frets per octave with the fretboard interface
- It will bring you your coffee every morning. Really? (maybe)
And no its not a synthesizer. There are zilions of them already so go get the one you like and connect to it. Its not that hard really - I believe in you.
1. OK here are the instructions. On your iPad, install a preferably MPE capable synth app that also supports background audio. eg. Animoog Z, Model D, etc.
2. Open the synth (you know… the synth from step 1) and set it up. ie set MIDI mode to MPE. background audio on. Note the pitch range semitones setting. eg 48 is common. Might be 12, Or it might be 2 but that is not as much fun.
3. Leave the synth running and launch the Netherblade app. Go to edit and choose your synth in the Internal Ports menu. Match the pitchbend range setting to the synth. Select matching MIDI Channel Mode. (eg MPE)
4. Go nuts and jam out! Once you set it up how you like it, make a preset and save it. That’s it man. You can do it. The next time will be easier I promise.
Future updates are coming that will include, but not limited to, velocity sensitivity, additional interfaces, more microtonal stuff, doing your laundry and … OK I might add a built-in synth if enough people ask me nicely.
