This application calculates handicap index.
What is HI (Handicap Index)?
Your Handicap Index (HI) is the single number that represents your potential ability as a golfer.
It’s not your average score — it’s a measure of how well you can play on your best days.
HI allows golfers of different skill levels to compete fairly, no matter what course they play.
The World Handicap System (WHS) calculates your Handicap Index (HI) using:
- Your Score Differentials (SD)
- The best 8 of those differentials
- A 0.96 “bonus for excellence” multiplier applied to the average of those 8
To calculate each Score Differential, WHS uses three pieces of information from every round:
- AGS — Adjusted Gross Score
- CR — Course Rating
- SR — Slope Rating
This app computes HI in three steps
1. Computes Score Differentials (SDs) from 8 best games
2. Averages those 8 values.
3. Applies the WHS factor (0.96)
