Philipp Stölzl (famous for his video clips for Rammstein and Madonna) tackled his first Verdi opera as a stage director: "Il trovatore" with a cast of high-class singer including Anna Netrebko as Leonora and Plácido Domingo as Count Luna – both of them making their debut in these roles. Joined by Marina Prudenskaya as Azucena and Gaston Rivero as Manrico. Daniel Barenboim conducts the Staatskapelle Berlin. "A grand night" (Süddeutsche Zeitung) of " energy and drive" (Daily Express).
