Louise is a personal voice assistant powered by SimpliHere- a mobile application that simplifies caregiving for those impacted by ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases. Louise allows patients and caregivers to request a variety of actions or ask questions related to ALS. Louise enables the mission of SimpliHere, which is to help patients and families face the overwhelming nature of ALS by enabling them to communicate basic needs, easily reach caregivers, and find comfort with other individuals sharing the same challenges. Additionally, Louise helps direct patients and families to contribute valuable information to medical communities in order to advance critical research on neurodegenerative diseases, including ALS.
As a personal voice assistant, Louise is ready to help patients and caregivers navigate the complex nature of ALS. Louise integrates into SimpliHere’s interface to provide the three primary capabilities: augmentative and alternative communications, connection to communities, and access to valuable resources such as news updates, products, and other services to help manage daily life. Louise provides the following features currently available through the SimpliHere app:
Communicate: Activate a one-click menu allowing to communicate basic needs in a single click- both in-person and remotely;
Contact Provider: Access care circle of selected individuals to streamline communication within families;
Find Equipment: Ask for specific equipment and other products available for purchase or borrow to assist in daily living;
Connect with a Community: Ask to find the right community or forum with other patients and caregivers facing the same challenges;
Get ALS News: Ask for on-demand ALS-related news, information on clinical trials and other research milestones;
Voice Bank tools: Search for leading tools available to preserve patients’ voices to be later used with speech generating devices such as VocalID, Project ReVoice and Model Talker
SimpliHere recognizes the imposing challenge of neurodegenerative diseases– particularly that of ALS, and is determined to fight it at every turn. The priority is to generate awareness of the disease and its devastating impact on patients and families. The ultimate goal is to innovate and support the community while still searching for a cure.
