Mela – AUv3: Synth, FX, MIDI
iOS Universel / Musique
Mela is a modular music-making tool that scales with your needs. With its intuitive interface, you can seamlessly build fully custom polyphonic synthesisers, unique audio effects, and complex MIDI processors. Mela can run as a standalone app on iOS and macOS or as an AUv3 plug-in inside your favourite DAW such as AUM, Cubasis, Drambo, Logic Pro and many more.
In Mela, presets are constructed using modules arranged on lanes, where signals flowing through the lanes are processed by the modules. Audio and MIDI signals can be sent and received to and from the host or routed between lanes using internal buses. Modulator modules can target any module parameter on any lane. Lanes and modules are easily added, removed, or rearranged, allowing you to design presets as simple or complex as needed. Mela comes with 104 modules, with new ones added with every update. The following are some examples from different categories.
- MIDI processors: arpeggiator, chord, Euclidean sequencer, note echo, note modifiers, scale, strummer, MIDI capture.
- Synth building blocks: virtual-analog oscillator, FM operator, phaseshaping, noise, VA filter, amp envelope.
- Modulators: envelope follower, envelope generator, LFO, macro control, MIDI source, random.
- Audio effects: chorus, delay, distortion, flanger, phaser, dynamics processors, comb filter, EQ, stereo panner.
- Visualisers: level and correlation metering, oscilloscopes, MIDI logger, notepad.
Mela can be loaded in a host as an Instrument, Audio Effect, or MIDI Processor plug-in. The only difference between them is the number of audio and MIDI inputs and outputs. Otherwise, all features are identical, and presets created in one type can be opened in another. Mela includes over 200 presets that showcase different ways to combine modules and shape your unique sound.
Modules are organised into collections. Collection 0 is free, letting you explore Mela's features. Other collections can be purchased via in-app purchases. Collection 5 will continue to grow with new modules in upcoming 7.x updates. Each collection is a one-time purchase. Below is the full list of modules.

Quoi de neuf dans la dernière version ?
Reusing Presets as Modules
- Presets can now be reused as modules, making it easy to move structures between presets or build complex setups from existing designs.
- This allows presets to act as reusable building blocks within larger signal chains.
- Any module can be dragged out of Mela to export it as a standalone preset.
- Dragging a preset from Finder or Files into Mela inserts it as a module.
- Modules can also be dragged between Mela instances to insert a copy.
- In all cases, the full nested structure, parameter values, and modulation routing are preserved.
- Presets in the browser include a drag handle.
- Drag a preset to Finder or Files to export it, or back into Mela to insert it as a module.
- Presets or modules can also be dropped onto the User or custom preset groups to save them there.
- When inserting a preset as a module, global parameters such as Ahead and polyphony settings are not imported.
- Be mindful of Audio and MIDI bus usage, as imported presets may use the same buses as the current preset, which could lead to unexpected routing behaviour.
Note Pulse & Note Event
- It's now easier to turn Note Pulse and Note Event modules into step sequencers or note generators by modulating their Velocity parameters.
- Note Pulse: When Velocity is set to 0, new pulses are not generated.
- Note Event: Added a Vel 0 parameter with Skip and Off modes.
- Skip prevents note-on generation at velocity 0, while Off also releases a held note.
- The Event parameter has been renamed to Gate as it is more fitting.
- Note Event: The On parameter has been added back. It is useful when note generation is triggered by modulation, allowing it to be turned off.
Other Changes
- Audio Input: Side-chain input is now supported when Mela is loaded as an instrument plug-in.
