Jimi Hendrix (1973)
/ Documentaire
This musical documentary captures the elusive character of one of rock's greatest musicians: Rock 'n' Roll Hall-of-Famer Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix, arguably the most influential guitarist in the history of rock 'n' roll, is shown in rare performances, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage including such legendary songs as "Purple Haze," "Little Wing," and "Foxy Lady." Hendrix's all-too-brief career was cut short by a fatal overdose at the age of 27 in 1970. But for three years -- including his blistering (and some said controversial) performance of "The Star Spangled Banner," which closed 1969's Woodstock Festival -- Hendrix amassed a body of work that reshaped rock music. Featuring appearances by music legends Pete Townshend and Eric Clapton.
