Double-Entry Bookkeeping
iPhone / Finance
You're familiar with terms like debit and credit, assets and liabilities, expenses and income? Double-Entry Bookkeeping was developed for private households who want to use the classic accounting system. Create accounts, record initial balances and formulate posting entries. From this, the app calculates daily balance lists as well as balance sheets and profit and loss.
When posting journal entries, Double-Entry Bookkeeping offers helpful symbols to explain the principle of use and origin of funds that underlies double-entry bookkeeping. The app is suitable for learning and for applying the accounting system.
There are no standardized charts of accounts for private households. When you start using the app, you build up your individual chart of accounts step by step instead. By naming your accounts appropriately, you no longer need additional or explanatory posting texts. This saves you a lot of time on a daily basis.
You decide how detailed you record your business transactions. For example, if you do not want to use an account for cash, instead of cash refund you can simply post expenses. After shopping in the supermarket, one posting entry per receipt is enough to keep an eye on your private finances. The time you'll need for bookkeeping per week will hardly be more than two minutes. However, you should check that your posting entries are complete by reconciling accounts.
Double-entry bookkeeping offers unlimited options. Supposed, you earn income in addition to income from employment but do not run a commercially organized business, you can set up the app so that your private and business expenses are going to be separated.
