Talking Tiles AAC
iOS Universel / Medecine
TalkingTiles is an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) app built to support autistic and minimally verbal users with practical, everyday communication.
Instead of generic symbols, TalkingTiles lets you create personalised “tiles” using real photos from the user’s own world—family members, favourite foods, places, objects, and routines—paired with familiar voice prompts. This reduces confusion, increases recognition, and helps communication feel natural and immediate.
Key features
• Personal photo tiles: capture or upload photos and add simple labels (e.g., “water”, “toilet”, “more”, “stop”).
• Record familiar voices: use a parent/teacher voice (or the user’s own) for reassuring, consistent prompts.
• Tap to speak: one tap plays the recorded audio and can also speak the text clearly.
• Build short phrases: combine tiles to form requests and sentences (e.g., “I want + biscuits”, “Go + outside”).
• Categories for quick access: organise tiles into Needs, Food, People, Activities, Emotions, School, and Routines.
• Caregiver-friendly editing: add, reorder, and update tiles quickly so the system grows with the user.
• Home–school consistency: keep core vocabulary aligned across settings to support generalisation.
How TalkingTiles helps
• Reduces frustration by making needs and choices easier to express.
• Supports routine and transition communication (morning routine, meals, toileting, bedtime).
• Encourages expressive language by moving from single-tile messages to multi-tile phrases.
• Helps carers and educators respond faster and more consistently.
Designed for simplicity
TalkingTiles focuses on a clean interface with large, easy-to-tap tiles and straightforward setup—so you can spend less time configuring and more time communicating.
Note: TalkingTiles is a communication support tool and does not replace professional assessment or therapy. For personalised clinical guidance, consult a qualified speech and language therapist.
