Time Logger
iPhone / Productivité
Log and track your time through the day. Multiple uses but particularly suited to people who work on multiple projects and charge multiple clients. Create activities and sub-activities within them to organise around how your life and work are structured. Log events within activities and attach tags that help you to search and establish workflow. For instance if you are a sports person and want to track triathlon training then create a triathlon activity and use tags to distinguish swim, bike, run training activities. Alternatively create swim, bike, run sub activities under a triathlon activity and the app will summarise at individual activities and triathlon levels. If you work for multiple clients, again set activities for clients and then use tags to track what has been invoiced, paid etc. You decide on what works for your lifestyle.
Start by clicking the + (calendar) icon button on the toolbar to add Events. Note that when you enter Events you will first need to select an Activity for the event. Activities that are already in the app will be suggested or alternatively you can select from a list already created.
Time events are grouped into activities; activities can be nested. Use swipe motion on an activity to edit or delete it. Add new sub activities when you edit an activity. Set the number of hours that constitute a worked day on the activity and the primary mode of viewing it - either hourly or daily. Note that we automatically calculate one from the other however this setting controls the primary entry of duration/effort in the event entry form and enables the app to highlight values accordingly in views.
When entering Events - enter a description and then select the start and end times. Note that a popup will allow you to pick a matching description for event description previously entered for the activity. We will calculate the duration in both hours and fractional days. However you can overwrite the effort manually if you choose. This is useful where you have been engaged on work through various times in the whole day but have actually spent less time on actual work effort.
Entry also allows you to add tags to each work item. Tags like activities can be nested. You can set tags which can then later be used to filter visible activities. Note that the Event List view allows you to select multiple events and then a menu will allow tags to be added or removed from the selected events. This allows you to create workflow - for example search for Invoiced tags and then add a Paid tag once the invoice(s) are paid.
Four types of views are currently available - a "Calendar" view, "Events by date" which allows you to group events by day, week, month or year, an "Event List" view that allows multiple events to be selected and quick setting of tags and an Activity Dashboard that provides a summary of each activity.
The search capability in the list views allows you to filter events for a specific text within the activity, events and tags. Note that multiple words separated by spaces can be search - those that match each word are displayed.
We hope you find the app useful and enjoy using it.
