Gentleman: MTV Unplugged
Gentleman is the first reagge-artist worldwide who had the honor of playing a MTV Unplugged-Concert. During his home-match in the City-Park of Cologne, the internationally well-known singer made an impressive musical-survey through his own past, showing him in constant change between Jamaica and Cologne and making him one of the most unique artists of that genre. Especially the acoustic versions of those hits, that already belong to pop music’s top choice like for example “Dem Gone”, “Superior”, “Send A Prayer” and “Different Places” show, how melodic and catchy his songs are. A carefully chosen guest list enhances the appearance of this set, which is made of more than 24 songs, including Christopher Martin (“To The Top“), Shaggy (“Warn Dem“), Tanya Stephens (“Another Melody“), Milky Chance (“Homesick“) and Marlon Roudette, with whom Gentleman brings the Mattafix-Classic “Big City Life” back to life. Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” with Campino and Ky Mani Marley, whose the reggae legend’s son, builds the finale. There has probably never been a live set where Gentleman was showing off more of his spirituality than with this MTV Unplugged. The gentle side of Gentleman. Mind-bending stuff.
