Various Artists: Mavis Staples I'll Take You There: An All-Star Concert Celebration
This historic all-star concert to celebrate the 75th birthday of soul legend Mavis Staples features over twenty performances spanning many genres by artists including Gregg Allman, Arcade Fire's Win Butler & Regine Chassagne, Eric Church, Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt amongst many others performing for and with Mavis herself. Filmed at Chicago’s historic Auditorium Theatre, the concert was a once in a lifetime event, bringing some of the biggest names in music together to honor the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and American icon. Throughout an unparalleled career that spans over six decades, Staples’ soulful songs of justice and equality have become a soundtrack for the Civil Rights Movement, and inspired multiple generations of artists. Included are classic Staples Singers hits like "Respect Yourself" and "I'll Take You There," songs that Mavis has covered and made her own throughout her career like The Band's "The Weight" and Talking Heads' "Slippery People" all the way through recent, celebrated solo material created with producers like Jeff Tweedy and Ry Cooder.
